Hands on training workshop on ‘Uttara basti’

Hands on training workshop on ‘Uttara basti’ (A type of Panchakarma treatment where medicines are inserted into the urethra or vagina) was held here at SDM Institute of Ayurveda and Hospital (SDMIAH) from December 18 to 20.

The programme was organized by the department of Prasooti Tantra and Stri Roga (PTSR) of the institute. Executive Officer of the institutte Kusuma presided over the inaugural function and delivered presidential address. Academic Dean Dr. Anitha M G addressed about the importance of Uttara basti. 

UG academics Dean Dr. Gururaj, Administrative Dean Dr. Poornima B., Professor and Head of PTSR department Dr. Padmasaritha K along with faculty members were present on the occasion. PTSR department Professor Dr. Padmasaritha K. welcomed the gathering the compered the programme. 

The three-day workshop was comprised of incisive and insightful discussions on various facets of Uttarbasti. Three scientific sessions inclusive of hands on training were carried out on each day by the staff of PTSR department.

Sessions on ‘Anatomy of female reproductive system and OT behaviour’, ‘Demonstration of uttarabasti on model’, ‘Live demonstration on patients’, ‘Instrument demonstration’, ‘Anatomy of female reproductive system and success stories’, ‘Role of anesthesia and emergency medicines’, ‘Success stories’ were held.

A short quiz competition was conducted for the delegates for 30 minutes followed by Valedictory program where certificates were provided to the delegates upon successful completion of the workshop.
