SUMMER CAMP
Department of Kaumarabhritya in association with Department of Swasthavritta conducted a six-day summer camp for children aged between 5-15 years from 12-03-2025 to 17-05-2025. 23 children registered for the camp. The camp began with health checkup and Children were done an eye and ENT checkup at Shalakya opd along with prakruthi assessment. Other activities of the day included yoga practice and health talk on maintenance of Oral hygiene in children. Dr.Bharathi D Anvekar, Professor and Dean department of Salyatantra, Dr. Anitha M.G, Professor and PG Academic Dean, Department of Agatatantra. Dr.Sonia HOD and Professor Department of Swastavritha SDMIAH banglore on 12.05.2025. Day 2 activities included yoga practice, awareness on Dinacharya practice, Kavala and Gandusha in maintaining health, visit to Samhita vana- herbal garden, and seed ball workshops were conducted. Children enjoyed knowledge of herbs which grow in and around their surroundings. Day-3 activities included yoga practice and pranayama followed by health talk on diet in summer holidays. Next children were sent to anatomy museum; they enjoyed knowledge of internal body parts. Mind game started followed by dance. Day-4 activities included yoga practice, pranayama and health talk on hand hygiene in children, followed by different sports activities and Dance. Day-5 activities included yoga practice, pranayama and health talk on the importance of deworming in children followed by crafts and dance. Children made beautiful wall hangings, pen stand and paper carry bag. Day 6– activities included yoga practice, pranayama and take-home points on how to practice yoga daily at home. A quiz was conducted on the training session as a mark of assessment and knowledge dissemination. The programme was ended by valedictory programme presided over by Dr. Shankar, HOD and Professor Department of Shalya tantra and Dr Divya stuvert, Associate professor Department of Shalakya tantra and Dr Sonia HOD and Professor Department of Swastavritha graced the occasion, gave away prizes to children who performed best during yoga training, overall best performance and special prize was given. Members of the training camp included Dr Reena Kulkarni, HOD, Department of Kaumarabhritya, Dr.Girish Associate professor, department of Kaumarabhritya, Dr Srilakshmi, Associate Professor, Department of Kaumarabhritya, Dr.Priyanka. Assistant professor, Department of Kaumarabhritya. Dr Pravitha Assistant professor, Department of Kaumarabhritya Dr Sonia, HOD Professor, Department of Swasthavritta, Dr.Manoj (Yoga instructor), Dr.Gururaj, HOD and Professor, Dept of shareera Rachana, Dr. Poornima, HOD and Professor, department of Dravyaguna, Dr.Mamatha, HOD and Professor, Dept of Shalakya tantra. All the days children were giving light refreshments which consisted of Badam milk, and sariva juice, Biscuits and Rusks.
