SHISHYOPANAYANA 2026
The auspicious ceremony of Shishyopanayana 2026—the Induction Ceremony for the 1st Year Undergraduate (UG) and 1st Year Postgraduate (PG) students—was solemnly conducted on 20th February 2026 at Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute of Ayurveda & Hospital, Bengaluru. The programme marked the formal initiation of the newly admitted students into the noble field of Ayurveda.
The ceremony commenced at 9:30 a.m. with the sacred Dhanwantari Homa, invoking the blessings of Lord Dhanwantari, the divine physician. The ritual created a spiritually uplifting atmosphere, symbolizing purification, knowledge, and commitment to the healing profession. Faculty members, students, and invitees participated with devotion and reverence.
The programme was conducted with the divine blessings of Parama Pujya Rajarshi Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, Manya Dharmadhikari of Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala. His guiding presence continues to inspire the institution in upholding the values of service, discipline, and dedication to healthcare.
Following the homa, the Shishyopanayana ritual was performed, signifying the formal acceptance of students into the guru-shishya parampara (teacher-disciple tradition). The students took an oath pledging to uphold the ethics, values, and responsibilities of the Ayurvedic profession. The significance of Ayurveda as a holistic science rooted in compassion and service was emphasized during the address to the gathering.
The programme concluded on a note of positivity and enthusiasm, marking the beginning of a transformative journey for the students.
