Basic NRP Provider Course

Bengaluru, January 11,2026: Department of Kaumarabhritya-Ayurveda Pediatrics, SDM Institute of Ayurveda and Hospital, Bangalore in association with the Indian Academy of Pediatrics and Neonatology forum of India – First Golden Minute Project successfully conducted a Basic NRP Provider Course on January 11, 2026 at SDM Bengaluru. The course was coordinated by Dr. Reena Kulkarni (Professor, Department of Kaumarabhritya) and Dr. Chandrakala BS (Professor, Department of Neonatology, St. John’s medical college and Hospital, Bangalore), with Dr. Y Naresh Kumar (Consultant Neonatologist and Pediatrician, Rangadore Memorial Hospital, Bangalore) serving as the lead instructor. The faculty team included Dr. Chandrakala BS (Professor, Department of Neonatology, St. John’s medical college and Hospital, Bangalore), Dr. Y Naresh Kumar (Consultant Neonatologist and Pediatrician, Rangadore Memorial Hospital, Bangalore), Dr.Usha B.K (Associate Professor,Department of Pediatrics,Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital,HSIS Ghosha Hospital,SABVMCRI,Banglore), Dr.Anjali.S.Raj (Consultant neonatologist, Manipal Hospital, Kanakapura, Bangalore)
The program began with a faculty meeting and registration, followed by an inauguration ceremony. The inaugural session of the Program commenced at 9:00 am. The session was skillfully moderated by Dr. Reena K. The ceremony was presided over by Dr. Anitha M.G (Academic dean, Department of Agadatantra). The session began with a melodious prayer song by PG scholar Dr. Reshma and Dr.Anjali(Second year PG Scholars), followed by the traditional lamp lighting ceremony and watering the thulsi plant. Dr. Priyanka H.S(Assistant Professor,Department of Kaumarabhritya) delivered the welcome speech, warmly greeting the participants and dignitaries. Dr. Chandrakala and Dr. Naresh Kumar provided a comprehensive introduction to the course, outlining its objectives and scope. The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Pravitha.K (Assistant professor, Department of Kaumarabhritya), expressing gratitude to all the dignitaries, participants, and organizers.
The workshop commenced at 9:30 am, with a total of 33 enthusiastic participants. To facilitate interactive and hands-on learning, the participants were divided into 4 groups, each led by experienced instructors. The course consisted of four skill station sessions, covering topics such as preparation for birth, routine care, initial steps, brief ventilation, and performance evaluation tests.
Participants engaged in hands-on training and demonstrations, and were evaluated through a performance test. The course culminated in a constructive feedback session, where both instructors and participants shared their thoughts, insights, and suggestions. This interactive exchange provided valuable perspectives, enabling the organizers to refine and enhance future programs. The ceremony concluded with vote of thanks by Dr.Reena.K(Professor and head,Department of Kaumarabhritya) with the distribution of certificates to the participants, acknowledging their successful completion of the course.
